Well the last post was from a walk the day after this one.
The walk is along the old Wyrley branch canal, which this conveniently placed sign points to
The afternoon was beautiful not a cloud in the sky and a short walk from our house to the entrance of the canal walk
Once through the gate we were greeted by these fine looking fellows
Aren’t they lovely?
The canal is now a nature reserve, and is popular for walks with children, dogs, bike riding etc.
All along the path are buttercup, primrose and various others i know not the names of.
The buttercup is everywhere, there is some in our own garden too
There are a couple of fishing pools along the way, although no one was fishing. Around the pools are ‘pegs’ where you can fish from, like this one below
After the pools the path is almost fully enclosed by trees
Some really gnarled oak trees in here as these two photos show
now we are in the shade there is quite a lot of Red Campion around, i know it’s a pink flower i don’t know why it’s called Red.
This is a closeup of that wonderfully pink flower
and here is a wider angle showing the whole plant..
Along the way this puppy wanted a photo
Civilisation isn’t very far away from here
So the walk was really relaxing gorgeous warm Sunday afternoon, so we decided to end it with a glass of wine for Wendy and a pint of bitter for me in one of the local pubs called the ‘Mary Rose’.
